Joint Inspection

26. With a view to ensuring the maintenance of the way and works of both Sections in a high state of efficiency it mi is agreed that periodical joint inspections shall be made by the administration of both Sections. Any defects found upon any such joint inspection shall be remedied forthwith by the de-

27.

General

Except as in this agreement provided neither Section shall interfere in anyway with the management or control of the other

In confirmation and extension of the principle laid down in Article 16 of the hereinbefore recited agreement of the 7th March, 1907, the Board and the Governor undertake on behalf of their respective Governments that no part of either Section nor the control thereof shall at any time be transferred to persons of any other nationality except British or Chinese

respectively.

In further confirmation and extension of the principle laid down in Article 15 of the said agreement the Board and the Governor undertake on behalf of their respective Governments that no line competing with either the British or Chinese Section and no harbour or dock to which either Section may have access shall be built to the detriment of either of such Sections

without the consent of both Governments.

29.

It is recognised by both Governments that the early connec- tion by a loopline at Canton of the Kowloon Canton Railway with the trunk link from Canton to Hankow is to the advantage of both Sections in order to attract more traffic and thereby promote the profite or both Sections and the Board hereby agreek to construct and maintain such connection as soon as possible.
